About Hiroko

oceana COLLECTION

Florida, USA

2024

Inspired by the mesmerizing turquoise waters of Florida’s East Coast, the Oceana Collection captures the essence of those perfect sunny days by the ocean. I wanted to bring the tranquil beauty of the sea into your home—its vibrant hues, its peaceful energy, and the sense of calm it offers.

The shimmering tones of turquoise reflect the ever-changing colors of the ocean under the sun, while the use of broken glass evokes the way sunlight dances on the water’s surface—sparkling, radiant, and full of life.

Through this collection, I invite you to experience the serenity and joy of relaxing by the sea, surrounded by light, color, and the gentle rhythm of the waves—hoping to share the same energy and impact it has had in my own life.

koi COLLECTIOn

Montpellier, France

2020

The Koi Collection was born in 2019, shortly after I arrived in the South of France. Immersed in a new environment, I felt a powerful urge to share the beauty and soul of Japanese culture with the French people. This inspiration led me to blend the ancestral art of origami with vivid, radiant colors—each piece created to spark joy and awaken the senses.

Every koi is meticulously handcrafted, with over 50 intricate folds. It’s a meditative and time-intensive process: once folded and glued, each origami is sealed with gesso, then carefully painted with acrylics, varnished, and finished with a UV-protective spray to preserve its brilliance.

Beyond the origami itself, I took on the role of a carpenter—measuring, cutting, and building custom wooden frames with millimeter precision. For safety and lightness, I use clear acrylic in place of glass, ensuring each piece is both protected and elegantly presented.

In Japan, koi is a homonym for "love" (恋), and these fish are also revered as symbols of strength, perseverance, and determination. Through this collection, I wish to bring not only a piece of Japanese tradition into your home, but also a touch of love, resilience, and color that brightens your everyday life.

buddha COLLECTION

Florida, USA

2018

Created in 2018, this collection emerged from a desire to express inner stillness, strength, and spiritual insight through the timeless figure of Buddha. Each painting is rendered in oil with hand-applied texture, giving depth and presence to every curve and detail. The colors—soothing blues, radiant golds, and passionate reds—are intentionally chosen to evoke different emotional and spiritual states.

As part of my deep connection to Japanese culture and tradition, I incorporated Shodō, the Japanese art of calligraphy, into each piece. Practicing Shodō has long been a meditative discipline in my life, and in this collection, it becomes a visual and energetic extension of the artwork itself. Each brushstroke is infused with intention, expressing powerful and inspiring phrases such as:

  • 「善は急げ」 Zen wa isogeGood deeds must be done without delay.

  • 「忍耐は力なり」 Nintai wa chikara nariPerseverance is strength.

These messages are not only written, but felt—they serve as guiding mantras meant to inspire those who live with the artwork.

This collection reflects my spiritual journey and my multicultural experiences, where East meets West in a dialogue of color, form, and meaning. My hope is that these paintings bring a sense of peace, reflection, and resilience into your space—along with the quiet strength that lives in every mindful breath.
